The Tsukiji Fish Market ( ) in Tokyo (Japan) is the world's largest wholesale market for fresh, frozen and processed seafood. Almost 50,000 people come every day to work, sweat, buy, sell and negotiate. Tokyo Fish Market elaborates an enlarged urban design proposal for this infrastructure. Its relocation to another site seems to be already decided on, as a wholesale market of this size no longer fits into the centre of this metropolis. Or does it? Absolutely is the conclusion of this project. Based on a profound analysis of its history and issues as well as a new Japan Fish Supply strategy this book suggests the transformation of Tsukiji into "Tokyo Fish City". An exciting journey!

The Topaz War Relocation Center, also known as the Central Utah Relocation Center (Topaz), was a camp which housed Nikkei -- Americans of Japanese descent and immigrants who had come to the United States from Japan. There were a number of such camps used during the Second World War, under the control of the War Relocation Authority. The camp consisted of 19,800 acres (8,012.8 ha), nearly four times the size of the more famous Manzanar War Relocation Center in California. Most Topaz internees lived in the central residential area located approximately 15 miles (24.1 km) west of Delta, Utah, though some lived as caretakers overseeing agricultural land and areas used for light industry and animal husbandry.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Yamato Ichihashi (1878 1963) was one of the first academics of Asian ancestry in the United States. Ichihashi wrote a comprehensive account of his experiences as an internee at the Tule Lake War Relocation Center where he was imprisoned in World War II along with other relocated Japanese Americans. Ichihashi was born in Nagoya, of the Aichi prefecture of Japan in 1878. He was the son of Ichihashi Hiromasha, a former samurai, and Maizuno Ai. He came to the United States in 1894 at the age of 16. He completed public school in San Francisco, graduated from Stanford University with a bachelors and a masters degree in economics, and earned his Ph.D. at Harvard. In 1913, he began teaching about Japanese history and government, international relations, and the Japanese American experience at Stanford. This continued until WWII began. Ichihashi was upset that Japan started the war and purchased US war bonds in support of the Americans. Despite this, he and his wife, Kei, were uprooted and imprisoned as part of the mass relocation of Japanese Americans during WWII.

Yamato Period

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Yamato period is the period of Japanese history when the Japanese Imperial court ruled from modern-day Nara Prefecture, then known as Yamato Province. While conventionally assigned to the period 250 710 (including both the Kofun period (c 150-538) and the Asuka period (538-710)), the actual start of Yamato rule is disputed. The Yamato court's supremacy was challenged during the Kofun period by other polities centered in various parts of Japan. At least it is certain that Yamato clans had major advantages over their neighbouring clans at the 6th century. This period is divided by the relocation of the capital to Asuka, in modern Nara Prefecture, into the Kofun and Asuka periods. However, the kofun period is an archaeological period while the Asuka period is an historical period. Therefore, many think this is an old division and this concept of period division is not popular in Japan now.
